Job Description:
This engineer will primarily serve as the technical interface between Commscopes design engineering department and domestic and international manufacturing vendors. This position will also support Operations, Supplier Quality, and Purchasing. This shall include electrolytic and electro less plating and other finishing operations on metals and plastics. Additionally, this role will require metal fabrication engineering support including die casting and experience in high speed progressive stamping is a plus. The engineer will perform a variety of engineering functions ranging from initial design reviews to overseeing tool & process qualifications to Production & Quality support.
DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
Support design engineers by reviewing and approving component designs, drawings, and material selections
Act as the primary point of contact for vendors and Commscope personnel regarding plating issues. Provide a similar role for Die Casting and/or precision stamping
Participate in review and approval of component designs, drawings, and material selections
Research materials and processes suitable for new products
Provide DFM feedback on new tool designs and tool modifications
Review, propose, and implement part changes to reduce component costs
Perform technical audits of current and potential finishing and metal casting suppliers.
Support new product introduction activities, including, but not limited to:
Production-Process qualifications
Tool qualification
First article inspections
Quality inspection criteria
Assist in troubleshooting and continuous improvement projects.
Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Devises new approaches to problems.
Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Acts as a key contributor and/or technical leader within a project team.
Conducts feasibility studies and tests new modified designs. May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.
Process Capital Requests and Purchase Orders for Tooling, samples, repairs, etc.
This position will also support Quality and Operations. This will be global and require travel.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Chemistry, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or Material Sciences Degree preferred), Masters Degree desired
Minimum of 5-8 plus years working with metal fabricators and at least 5 years of work and design experience in Die Casting and Electroplating processing, preferably related to connector components in the telecommunications or related environment. Similar experience with die casting and precision stamping is desirable.
Significant hands-on engineering experience in plating including part manufacturability, production processing and tool design.
Experience with selective continuous reel-to-reel plating
Experience in die casting process and finishing of die cast materials.
Experience managing First Article Inspection process.
Proficient in Pro-E, AutoCAD and/or other 3D modeling tools
Experience with GD&T
Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills
Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated self-starter and self-directed capabilities to support reduced supervision.
Requires the ability to regularly contact, influence and negotiate with both internal and external individuals on complex issues
Must be able to respond to inquiries and complaints with tact and diplomacy.
Basic skills in MS Office applications.
Basic Project Management skills
Experience with calculating process metrics (Cp & Cpk) and Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification a plus.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
