Configuration of UCS Software consisting of LAN/SAN/Blade Servers and VMWare
Configuration of UCS systems in Production Data Centers in accordance with Cisco-IT provided standards
Upgrade of firmware and system Images.
Hardware installs (Rack, Stack and Label)
Receive equipment
Inventory items and update database
Move equipment to datacenter
Receive location for installation from Cisco-IT
Install equipment into appropriate rack location
Cable manage
Label system
Update inventory systems with Serial, asset, MAC, etc information
Software Installs (OS Loads)
Microsoft / Linux/ ESX OS installs per Cisco-IT
Ensure administrators can access the Cisco UCS system Via SSH OOB
Utilize Cisco-IT's maintenance tools to manage trouble tickets
Troubleshooting and ticket resolution
Attempt high level troubleshooting on internal cluster components
Switch port, uplink, PXE, blade issues
Remote Recovery
Blade parts swap
Loose cables
Swap blades
DOA items
DIMM upgrades
Blade swaps
Replace parts failed and DOA parts on systems installed under this initiative during normal business hours, after hours parts replacement with be performed at the rates provided
Data Center Support:
On-site services provided are intended to meet basic data center labor requirements of Cisco UCS and related components. These include:
Racking and Stacking of individual or incidental components
Installation of pre-defined and pre-tested operating system images
Decommissioning of Servers
Utilize Cisco-IT's SPUR program process to dispose of equipment as required
Required Skills:
Minimum
Qualifications:
10 Years
Networking skills with an emphasis the Server and Storage Environments
Familiar with, Servers (UCS), Storage (EMC, NettApp), VMWare and a the Data Center Environment
Familiar with cabling and racking standards
Basic Linux /Windows CLI
Strong Troubleshooting skills Layer 1 -3
Network/SAN/Virtualization Software (VMware)/Server Certifications a +
Required to provide on-call services to Cisco 24 hour x 7 days a week, 365 days per year. After Hours and weekend support necessary. Other duties as required by management.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
