Director of Estimating
As the Director of Estimating, you will lead the existing estimating team that covers plumbing, electric and HVAC and plan and effect the development of a plumbing design team.
In addition, you will be responsible for developing and improving standards, procedures, tools, and methodologies to produce cost estimates for projects based on work scope, specifications, and proposal or contract requirements You must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, be highly organized, and have a keen eye for detail.
You must also be a seasoned leader with phenomenal people skills.
General Responsibilities Develop a workflow and system for scheduling and processing estimate requests and communicating with sales and corporate management Craft and implement a plan for the development of plumbing design department Improve and maintain the accuracy of material takeoffs in all three trades Establish processes to perform analysis of project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements.
Incorporates benchmark data, trends, and historical pricing to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations Establish technical standards and procedures and have overall responsibility for the training and staffing of estimating department Cross-train team to facilitate efficient load-balancing of estimating capacity Review the work of the individual estimators for accuracy, consistency and present bids to sales and corporate management Qualifications 8-10 years of relevant estimating experience 5
years of team leadership, strategic planning, continuous improvement leadership, and best practice leadership experience required Knowledge of plumbing, electric or HVAC systems and principles Accuracy and attention to detail Technical writing for proposals and written communications Project Management experience Recommended Skills Attention To Detail Business Process Improvement Communication Coordinating Hvac Interpersonal Skills Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
